Gone To Loving Homes - Shalom

Posted On: 21 Aug 2019

Tied to a pipe with no food or water for the whole day, ignored by all who passed his way, Boomer is but one of the many being abandoned heartlessly by their owners. Initially thogh to be lost, efforts to locate the owner by ads and phone calls came to no avail.

Although his estimated 4 year old facade painted him to be a cheery, happy canine, his temperament belied his appearance. He has mood swings, asking for attention one moment , and growling the next. He doesn’t like being touched on the ears and ould sulk when scolded.

When he was put up for adoption, many were attracted to his looks, but few wanted him when told of his emotional state. It would take some special people to be able to accept Boomer and to work with him to overcome his problems.

When Louis and his daughter Sarah came to see Boomer, he took to Sarah immediately. Even with our apprehension about his temperatment, Louis was sure about Boomer and willing to iron out the difficulties. It looked like our hope for that special someone had finally materalized.

Boomer is now known as Shalom, which means peace, and appropriately so, for he seems more at peace with himself in his stable and caring enviroment. Both Sarah and Shalom are inseparatble and he is extremely protective of her. Louis is patiently working with Shalom to overcome all his negative emotions and he is confident that Shalom will eventually excorcise all the emotional demons within him.

Our gratitude goes to Louis and his family for their patience and understanding without which Shalom’s fate would have been unthinkable.
